Cleansing After the Storm, iPhone 4s, June 2013; © Sally W. Donatello and Lens and Pens by Sally, 2013
Let me know what you think about my photograph.
Pens:
In the Lens section is my entry for this week’s WordPress Photo Challenge. Immediately, this image appeared in my mind.
In June we had unseasonably heavy thunderstorms that swept with a vengeance through the Mid-Atlantic region. Our small town had its share of turbulence (tornadoes and heavy sheets of rain) and after effects (trees uprooted and gardens washed away).
This particular afternoon the rip was pounding and strongly pervasive. Then the light appeared as if to freshen our hearts and landscape. Its glow hid the back story, and rays filtered through my home with an instant catharsis and cleansing. It was meditative.
Note: As always I welcome any comment about this post or any part of my blog.
The image is just poetic! The light after the storm is calmly beautiful.
Amy, thank you so much for your comment.
A powerful photograph.
Thank you.
It gives us hope and assurance that after every storm comes calmness. Beautiful my friend….thanks.
I do appreciate your comment. Enjoy the weekend’s finale.
Wonderfully mysterious photo; I almost didn’t want to read what you had written about it.
I appreciate your comment. Thanks.
Love this dramatic photo!

Sally, I can understand how the light was very cathartic for you. We have been having rain for 2 months straight now and this girl, could use some rays of light. The moodiness of this picture…tells a story of its own.
Laurie, our spring and early summer was inundated with storms. Now we’re in a heat wave, but the tomatoes love it. Thanks.
I adore that sunshine that beams clear and bright directly after a thunderstorm …so crisp and the air so cleansed.
Geoff, I totally agree. Thanks.
Great shot. I love the light streaming in and all the negative space around it.
Edith, it really is one of those shots that is dear to me for exactly the reasons you stated. Thanks so much.
Well said, nicely captured Sally!
Tina, thanks and enjoy the weekend.
I love the peachy glow that saturates the area when the sun pops through the clouds after a storm. I understand why this post-storm light made you feel relieved and renewed. Fresh.
(I’m glad everyone was safe!)
Thanks, the light was a magical cure for wrath of the storm.
The image stirs an intuitive feeling–I can’t put into words. It’s such a wonderfully poetic photo.
I really appreciate your comment.
