One of my daily pleasures is to immerse myself in nature. An array of parks and trails are nearby to explore. Mostly, I find myself in the quietude of the White Clay Creek, which can be traversed from many vantage points throughout my city.
The image in the Lens section is a fairly new trail that lines the outskirts of “my” city. Over six months ago a new section was added to the original trail, and it moves with grace through the center of town. It’s nearly noticeable, and that’s a strength. It’s marked, but easily crosses Main Street to lead to the woods.
Many other cities are using “retired” railroad tracks to make biking, hiking and walking trails, and that’s the impetus behind this one. But it extends ours for miles, and solitude is still possible, even in its popularity.
Note: As always I welcome any comment about this post or any part of my blog.
Glorious B & W :)))
Thank you so much.
Love the photo.
The first YouTube video I ever made was a bout a walk through a park that had an old railway line running through it. One of our favourite walks is to and from the next town. We can walk along the highway or we can follow the railway line, and except for the occasional train you would not know you were in a city.
Terry
Terry, it is lovely to have access to such treats. I feel particularly fortunate to have so much open space available for meandering alone or with others. Thanks so much.
A beautiful spot and a lovely “habit’! Enjoy 🙂
Tina, thanks.
Amo l’eleganza del bianco e nero.
🙂
Grazia.
And a lovely habit that is too Sally 🙂 x
Amanda, I agree. Enjoy your weekend. Thanks.
That sounds so wonderful.
I believe that solitude is needed in everyone’s life. Some of us need more than others. Thanks.
Great nature shot. B&W makes it look great. Have a great weekend.
Amar, see you soon. Thanks.
Beautiful capture and narrative!
Cindy, many thanks.
Love your shot, Sally! Great B&W!
Cathy, thanks. See you soon.
Looks like an enchanting walk – I’d love it.
Yes, it takes me into a peaceful place. Thanks.
Talk about deja vu…this image reminds me of infrared photography! It’s not quite that because your tonal range is much less abrupt than an IR photo. Very cool.
Thanks, while the autumn has been slow to appear in coloration. I’ve found small pockets of gems. Enjoy the weekend.
I love the re-use of old train tracks in this way and I love getting out and walking. I’ve been allowing myself to be much to busy indoors and this is a good reminder to get outdoors!
janet
Janet, I’m delighted to be able to nudge you to go and enjoy nature. See you soon. Thanks.
I’ve been very busy lately, and I miss my walks through the city’s parks. Your photo is speaking to me. It’s telling me to get up early tomorrow and go for a stroll.
Frances, nice to hear from you. It will be good for your spirit and soul. Thanks.
I love my local walking/hiking/biking trails! Your picture gives me the desire to go enjoy one…when the weather cooperates.
Oh, please do. It’s so cathartic and relaxing. Thanks.
Beautiful capture of light and shade.
Enjoy your weekend. I appreciate your comment.
As a lover of nature, this is a great shot. I’m all for new trails that help us escape the city for a wee bit.
You know that I agree. Thanks so much.
