Pens:

Delicate is the theme of WordPress’ Weekly Photo Challenge. That simple everyday descriptor conjures soft silks, cat’s fur, glass vases, a broken heart, floating clouds…The list is limitless and easily changes with each new thought.

In the Lens section I’ve posted two sections of images. The first shows photographs of a shoot on a cold November night. On that evening stroll I watched the ambient light cast silhouettes, and encourage me to play with my iPhone.

The images are delicate renderings of light thrown from homes and street lamps. They made for an eerie, almost alien captures. Their ephemeral qualities fit into today’s challenge.

In the second section is the image of a delicate stem of a coneflower, barely holding the flowerhead. Its energy has been tested. But it remains on duty. It show one of the season’s last beauties.

Delicate can mean fragile. Or it can envision the dainty sound that emanates from a violin. Regardless, it’s a word with a range of emotions.

Note: As always I welcome comments about this post or any part of my blog.

I like the first one, the colors are rich yet mystifying. It does remind me of an impressionist abstract painting.

  3. The lights gives a sense of hope that during this times of darkness, there is a light to guide us through. Merry Christmas and best wishes to your family.

  6. I like the third one best. I think it is the most delicate, but I love the color in the first one as well.

The second one makes it look as if the lights are running. I like that.

All of them are interesting in their own way. My fav is the last one though…just love the close ups. Nicely done indeed!

  15. These must have been fun to take! Number one is my favourite – could have been taken by Turner if he used an i-phone instead of paints and brushes!

    • I’m totally speechless. My mother was an abstract expressionist painter, and I grew up around artists. A visit to the Tate Museum and my first view of Turner’s art (in person) brought tears to the surface. Thank you.
